Suzanne's Story | Sharon's Story |
Allow me to be your guide in designing your home or yard with the help of your location angels. A location angel cares for a place just as a guardian angel cares for person. I use divining rods to interpret the advice of the angel in creating the look and feeling that you want. I have been doing this for 25 years and it is always helpful, fun, and surprising.
Judie's Front Garden The location angel's suggested placement of a fountain focal point and surrounding plants made a very inviting entrance to our home. I especially like the playful fence/railing.
I started out my adventure by using divining rods for designing my vegetable garden with nature spirits. I wrote down my intention for the garden which was to have the plants in the best possible places to grow well and to create harmony, peace and happiness with the energy flow they create. This way the nature spirits had some guidelines for helping me. Now I also include many more practical ideas in my intentions such as a garden size that allows me to physically keep up with the maintenance and a cost that fits my budget. Every location has an angel to care for it just as every person has a guardian angel. I asked for my garden’s location angel, or "plant spirit", to guide me in the choosing of the plant types, the number of plants to put in, and the placement of each vegetable. A couple of interesting anecdotes: I was directed to plant one row of corn all around the outside of the garden intermixed with pole beans. I mentioned to my mom how odd it was to plant two types of plants in the same row. She told me that her father always planted corn and pole beans together so that the beans could grow up the corn stalk eliminating the need for string or wire. Wow. Who knew. But I did not get even one ear of corn because the deer ate it all. When I complained to the "plant spirit" she asked if the deer had eaten anything else. Well, no. I guess the corn served as an inexpensive fence to save the other plants. Cool. My cherry tomatoes were about knee high when small red bugs descended upon them and literally covered them up. I was trying frantically to knock them off and smush them when the "plant spirit" said to me, “You can try to kill them all but there is a better way.” She had me thoroughly water two of them, move one and fertilize some others. But she suggested leaving one for the bugs to devour. I did as she directed and the tomatoes recovered and produced well. The one sacrificed plant was eaten to a mere nub. But later it completely grew back and made so many tomatoes that I had to cart them off to my friends by the bucket load because there were so many. I began using a similar approach to designing things in my gallery and it worked just as well inside. It is such surprising fun and very fulfilling to work with the nature spirits. I don’t always understand what they are doing but it is a wonderful journey!
Judie’s Back Porch
I had a very boring back porch. It was very functional but uninteresting and without a good place to just relax and enjoy the scenery. My location angel directed me to move my existing dining table from the center of the porch to one corner of the room where it was still easily accessible. This left space to bring in a rarely used bench from the yard and place it diagonally near the edge of the railing so we could get a grand view of the backyard. The grill remained in its original spot and we had plenty of space to walk from the door to the grill to the table. Then we placed a low table behind the bench for plants and decoration. Now we use the porch all the time!
